Republican Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy had some strong words about President Biden’s health and rumored cognitive issues after his dismal performance in the June 27th debate. Cassidy said it’s best for the country if Biden isn’t re-elected.
“But he’s clearly on his way to being in a nursing home. If you or your father or grandfather, would you give them the keys to the car? No, you’d be taking the keys from him. Sometimes you’re not even sure he knows where he is and yet he’s supposed to be the leader of the free world, that’s absurd,” said Cassidy.
Cassidy, who’s also a medical doctor, said he’s had patients who present with similar cognitive issues and once you begin this decline, it continues and often accelerates.
“There’s nothing against the person, that’s just how the brain declines. He’s in that decline. He should not be President of the United States,” said Cassidy.
When asked if he believes the 25th Amendment, should be invoked…
“I would argue, but I’m not his physician, that there’s evidence that President Biden is no longer competent. But that decision has to be made by those who are closest to him. And those who are closest to him at this point are saying everything’s right and clearly that’s not true,” said Cassidy.
The 25th Amendment is invoked when a president is unable to perform their duties and the vice president becomes president.
