Louisiana’s Gaming Control Board has approved the transfer of the gaming license of the abandoned Bossier City Diamond Jacks Casino to the Cordish Companies. Cordish is a leader in the gaming development industry. Gaming Control Board Chair Ronnie Johns says Cordish will take over in the renovation of Diamond Jacks.

“We’re anticipating probably a $275 million project up in Bossier City. Complete renovation. A land-based casino.”

DiamondJacks closed in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Cordish Live! brands several sports and entertainment destinations such as Texas Live! Kansas City Live! and Bally Sports Live! in St. Louis, Missouri.

Johns says Cordish has taken over the renovation of the 77,000 square feet gaming, entertainment, and dining venue.

“A lot of demolition work. It’s basically bringing it down to the bones. The old riverboat that was there, they couldn’t float it out so it’s having to be scrapped piece by piece.”

The newly renovated casino will feature more than 47,000 square feet of gaming space, an upscale 550-room hotel, and 30 thousand square feet of first-class dining and entertainment venues. Johns points out that the new construction will also feature.

“They’re going to build an entirely new land-based casino. There will be retail shopping there. There will be complete renovation of the swimming pool area. It will be a first-class property.”

The project is expected to be complete by late 2025.
