Entergy Louisiana crews are working around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible.
Michelle Bourg, vice president of customer service, says with manpower quadrupled, crews have been very effective thus far.
“Our hard-working responders have made tremendous progress to restore more than 65% of Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans customers less than 48 hours after Hurricane Francine’s landfall,” Bourg said in a Friday morning update.
Bourg says in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas, full restoration will happen soon.
“In Jefferson and (East) Baton Rouge parishes, we expect to bring 90% of customers back online by the end of the day tomorrow,” Bourg said Friday morning. “Service to many customers will be restored before then.”
But in the coastal parishes including Assumption, Terrebonne and Lafourche, full restoration will likely take a little longer.
“We expect to bring the majority of these customers, whose areas were hardest hit by the storm, back online in two to three days,” Bourg said Friday. “By September 16th, we estimate that most
Entergy Louisiana customers will be fully restored from power outages directly relating to the storm.”
Bourg notes that South Louisiana’s geography makes it challenging for crews, with many power poles being located in marshes, swamps and heavily wooded areas.
She notes, however, that they have the equipment to effectively navigate those areas, including drones and helicopters.
“For customers who are still without power, please be assured that our team is utilizing every tool at our disposal to bring you back to service,” said Bourg.
