Victoria Cox, the woman who’s been charged in the death of four-year-Erin Brunett along with Daniel Callihan said in a Mississippi courtroom Monday that the last time she saw the two girls they were both alive. Callihan confessed to authorities and the media on Friday and Jackson Police Chief Joshep Wade believes they have a solid case.

“He has implicated the young lady that we charged as well. We feel we have a very strong case as we move forward against both of them in this particular matter. But he was interviewed by the FBI,” said Wade.

Both Cox and Callihan have been charged with murder and sexual battery in Mississippi. Wade opted not to elaborate on the sexual battery charges as they pertained to the young girls.

“As you do your research as to what entails sexual battery, then you will be able to kind of connect the dots. Based on our collaborative investigation and based on his statements we felt that was the appropriate charge,” said Wade.

After processing the crime scene for three days in Mississippi, Wade said he has more questions than answers and wants to know why Callihan and Cox brought the two girls to Mississippi.

“I observed small cages myself, small wiring enclosures, and there were other things that led us to believe that it was a possibly a location that human trafficking could happen or transpire,” said Wade.

Wade said the FBI is expected to hand down charges in a matter of days.
