A traffic stop in Jefferson Davis Parish leads to a huge drug bust. As Jennings Police pulled over a vehicle, a passenger threw narcotics at the driver’s head and left the vehicle. He was arrested and booked into jail. Police Chief Danny Semmes says the investigation then led officers to a convenience store with a poker room inside, and officers eventually found Robert Moore there.
“They had located him inside the convenience store where a fight ensued between him and the officers. He was subdued, arrested and a large amount of narcotics was found on him,” Semmes said.
One officer who Moore fought with had to be taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Chief Semmes says Moore was a regular customer of the convenience store.
“He was frequenting the poker room, normally. Apparently, when he was picked up, he was selling drugs out of that poker room,” Semmes said.
And Semmes says Moore had a boatload of drugs, including about 55-thousand lethal doses of fentanyl.
“The total street value was probably 15,000 to 20,000 dollars. The guy had marijuana, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, cocaine fentanyl and pills on him. He had it all in his pants,” Semmes explained.
Semmes says the investigation took about a month to finish.
