“We took some feedback from some of the applicants and from some of the people that didn’t become applicants and we modified it.”
300 eligible homeowners of Louisiana’s Coastal Zone, selected through the lottery system, can receive grants to fortify their properties. These upgrades aim to reduce damage during storms, lower insurance premiums, and increase the strength of communities across Louisiana.
“I understand that there’s an argument that anybody in the entire state should be able to apply to this. A FORTIFIED roof in North Louisiana doesn’t have as big an impact as FORTIFIED roofs in South Louisiana.”

“And if the roof is more expensive than that, then it would be up to you to cover the difference there.”
Given the limited registration period and potential benefits, interested homeowners are encouraged to apply quickly. Temple says changing to a lottery system creates a fairer experience for everyone interested in applying.
