Which Louisianians could be considered for President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet? LSU-Shreveport Political Science Professor Jeffrey Sadow says the most likely one to join the new Trump administration is State Education Superintendent Cade Brumley, who might be in consideration for Secretary of Education.
“There are a few headwinds that he’s facing now. He may be very amenable to just having a much larger stage on which to do some of the things he has done here in the State of Louisiana,” Sadow said.
As for other names being floated for cabinet positions, Sadow says he does not envision State Treasurer John Fleming joining the new administration, even though he had held three different positions in the previous Trump administration.
“If it’s not anything that is substantially with more authority than the positions he held in the first Trump administration, I don’t know if that would be enticing enough,” Sadow said.
Sadow says another one potentially under consideration would be former Governor Bobby Jindal, who has been critical of Trump in the past.
“I think it might be a stretch to say he’d be named, say, Secretary of Health and Human Services, but maybe something a little bit farther down,” Sadow said.
