LSU Alexandria spring enrollment reach all time high over university’s fall enrollment

LSU Alexandria says it’s the fastest growing public university in Louisiana. Chancellor Paul Coreil says LSUA’s enrollment has reached an all-time high 5,405 students, nearly a six-percent increase since the fall semester.

“I don’t think in the history of my work in higher education I’ve seen a spring enrollment at a university go up higher than the fall. That never happens. And it is the first time we’ve seen that at LSUA in the 63 year of the university history.”

On-campus enrollment is up nearly 18-percent since Spring 2023, totaling 26-hundred students.

Coreil says more prospective students are enrolling in their innovative degree programs that prepares them for in-demand jobs, including nursing, aviation, cyber security, and…

“And criminal justice is very popular. A big shortage in the police force employees and we’re really pushing that program to meet the need of shortages of police around the state and around the nation.”

LSUA’s online programs increased by nearly 59 percent compared to the previous spring, with 2, 727 students. LSUA boasts a remarkable 90 percent retention rate, with 9 out of 10 first time freshmen returning this spring.

Coreil says LSUA is the university of choice in Louisiana and beyond. He touts the value of the university.

“Over 50 percent of our students graduate with no debt at all. Zero debt. Which is unprecedented. You hear about student debt. That’s not an issue at LSUA because we’re so affordable.”
