Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says the state will not renew a contract for a Louisiana float to appear in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Nungesser says they didn’t see a boost in tourism inquiries last year.
“It was the end of a three year contract. And because they moved the float by so quickly and we looked at the return on investment it just doesn’t come close.”
Instead, they will continue participating in the New Year’s Day Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, and they are looking for some helping hands.
“If you want to make a trip of a lifetime come out this year and help us decorate this float at the Rose Parade. We put about 130 thousand rose, seeds and orchids on that float in three days, all volunteers.”
Nungesser says that compared to Macy’s Parade the return on investment is night and day.
“So we get about a $28 million return for less than a million dollar investment for this float.”
