A deadly shooting in broad daylight in Ponchatoula. Police Chief Bry Layrisson says it happened yesterday afternoon.

“Three suspects drove up and started opening fire on three victims that were inside of Lakeside Circle walking out to the main gate,” Layrisson said.

Chief Layrisson says a 17-year-old boy was killed and two others – another 17-year-boy and a 59-year-old man – were injured.

“Marvin Wells, a 17-year-old, passed away on the scene. The two other victims that were shot were brought to North Oaks Hospital, treated for their injuries, and they have both since been released,” Layrisson said.

Layrisson says police have arrested 18-year-old Julius Glass Jr., 17-year-old Kera Wolbers and 16-year-old Ray Carter.

“They’ve all three been charged with first-degree murder or a tentative first-degree, a tentative second-degree, assault by drive-by shooting and several other charges as well,” Layrisson explained.

Layrisson says while the motive is unclear, investigators say the shooting was targeted, hence the first-degree murder charges.
