A new statewide initiative launched aims to better understand and address the needs of Louisiana’s military veterans and their families. Led by the Louisiana Center for Health Innovation (LCHI) at UL-Lafayette Director Gabriella Wilson says in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA), the initiative will conduct a comprehensive survey focused on mental health, housing, employment, healthcare access, and family support.
“This would be the first one ever one in Louisiana at the state level, where we are not only interviewing the Veterans but also surveying the family as well as those employers who work with veterans. So, this way we can capture the needs of everybody.”

This collaborative effort seeks to ensure all Louisiana veterans are supported, with data-driven strategies tailored to their lived experiences. Wilson says the survey’s is open until June 15th.
“We want to make sure that we include the data that we have that its out there publicly available. We include all of this as part of our report. The goal will be for this report to be released to the public by the end of November.”
