Metairie youth pastor Larkin Jackson launched Free Louisiana on Thursday, an organization dedicated to the goal of the Bayou State becoming an independent country. He said Louisiana is constantly ranked at the bottom compared to other states and the federal government is to blame.
“They’ve put a lot of regulations on us, I mean you look at recently with the LNG industry and what the Biden administration has done with that and thankfully our attorney general has stopped that mess,” said Jackson.
He said Louisiana should be independent of states like California and New York.
In his job as a youth pastor at Southshore Baptist, Jackson said he wants to ensure young people continue to have the freedoms he had growing up, like the freedom of speech and the freedom to preach the gospel.
“And looking at our young people in our youth group, I want them to have that freedom. I see places like California, and places like Indiana where they’re limiting that freedom and I don’t want our nation to go the way of California,” said Jackson.
Jackson said the values of the east coast and the west coast are sinking into middle America and he wants to stand against that.
He believes as an independent nation, Louisiana can secure religion and he fully supports the state law requiring public school classrooms to post the Ten Commandments.
“That’s fantastic, I think that’s really a great step forward and that shows what Louisiana really values. We’re not California, we’re not New York, we’re not the east or west coast. So, I’m glad with the direction that we’re taking,” said Jackson.
Since launching the website FreeLouisiana.org on Thursday, he said he’s gotten positive feedback.
