LSU has moved up six spots to number three in the latest AP Top 25 Poll. The Tigers are ranked fourth in the Coaches. LSU is coming off an impressive 17-10 win over Clemson, who is now ranked eighth. Coach Brian Kelly credits confidence and preparation for the team’s outstanding performance on the road.
“Preparation allowed us to play with great composure on the road in a very hostile environment. We competed on every play, but most importantly, we played with great confidence. Our guys believed, going into the game, that they were going to win the game,” Kelly said.
This is LSU’s highest ranking since 2019.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney gave the LSU Tigers a grade of 65 out of 100 for their performance last Saturday. Kelly clapped back and said that’s a low score considering his team dominated Clemson in the second half.
“He’s either really good grader, giving himself a 58, or he’s a really hard grader on us, or he didn’t see the second half. Which that might be the case. He might not have wanted to see the second half,” Kelly said.
Louisiana Tech is up next for the third-ranked Tigers. The Bulldogs won their season opener by shutting out Southeastern Louisiana. Kelly has great respect for Tech coach Sonny Cumbie.
“I get a chance to see him virtually all summer in camps. He’s one of the hardest working coaches I’ve seen in the industry. Just doing whatever he can to continue to build his program and recruit, in particular, the state of Louisiana,” Kelly said.
Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
