Several Louisiana legislators have received postcards containing graphic images of a lynching. Republican State Representative Mike Bayham of Chalmette was one of the lawmakers who received the nefarious postcard.

“Whoever did this went on the state legislative website and started grabbing addresses in alphabetical order of the legislators, based upon the other members of the House representatives who received these disturbing images,” Bayham said.

The postcard has an image of two people hanging from a noose with the words “Thank You.” He says the postcard has the Department of Homeland Security’s mailing address with Secretary Kristi Noem’s name.

“Because Secretary Noem has Secret Service protection, this went from just being harassing a state official to involving federal authorities,” Bayham explained.

Bayham says the FBI is now investigating.

“The feds wanted to take a look at what’s going on and try to see if there’s an imminent threat, or if this is just some whack-job just trying to be cute and harass legislators,” Bayham said.
