Louisiana Tech’s enrollment of just over 12,000 students for the 2025 Fall Quarter is the highest since 2018. The freshman class of 2,400 students is the largest domestic class in the school’s more than 130-year history. Louisiana Tech president Dr. Jim Henderson says there’s been more of an emphasis on recruiting students from the I-10 corridor.

“We’ve expanded our recruitment efforts. We get a lot more students from South Louisiana, certainly from East Texas and most of Arkansas. A lot are from Mississippi, so around this regional part of the country,” Henderson said.

Henderson says Louisiana Tech’s nursing program has seen a 20% increase in students.

“We added an RN to BSN component that adds a health informatics piece to that, that makes our nurses not only widely sought off for traditional skills, but they come with an understanding of technology and analysis that makes them critically important in any hospital setting,” Henderson explained.

Henderson says the Aviation management program has seen significant increase at 46%. He says the school also continue to attract a lot of engineering students.

“With a civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical, all the places where we have done some great work over time, is still a hot item for students that want to have control of their life and career success,” Henderson said.

Freshmen in the Honors College increased by 22% and boast an average ACT score of 31.
