Brian Kelly’s lawsuit against LSU could potentially hurt its head coaching search. ESPN Baton Rouge Radio’s Matt Moscona appeared on the Moon Griffon show and says LSU has notified potential coaches and their representatives about the upcoming lawsuit.
“What I was told is that, LSU had been proactive in communicating this to the people that they’re pursuing, letting them know what was coming and why,” Moscona said.
Moscona says he believes that the LSU football coaching search is in a better place than it was a week ago after adding structure with a new president and athletic director.
“Having that leadership structure in place, it helps. You’re in a much more stable position than you were a week ago, when you didn’t have the full-time president yet, when you didn’t have a full-time AD yet,” Moscona explained.
Moscona also believes that Kelly’s lawsuit might not sit well with some of the potential candidates after the university refused to pay the former head coach’s $54 million buyout.
“Why would I do a deal with LSU, when the coach they just fired, they’re trying to get out of paying him his buyout, but I think they would honor my client’s deal?” Moscona asked.
