Good things happen to people who wait. It took a little longer than many expected after offensive tackle Jordan Seaton had a successful visit to the LSU campus last weekend that included a trip to the governor’s mansion and visit with Governor Jeff Landry.
Finally on Friday night, the former five-star recruit finally announced his commitment to LSU.
It’s the final piece to the portal puzzle for LSU as Coach Lane Kiffin has completed a major renovation of the roster by signing nine of the Top 100 players in the portal.
Many people will say the three most important positions on the football field are quarterback, edge rusher and offensive tackle. LSU signed the top players in the portal at all three positions, Sam Leavitt at quarterback, Princewill Umanmielen at edge rusher and now Seaton at offensive tackle.
Seaton was a consensus five-star prospect coming out of IMG Academy in Florida. The Washington D.C. native was the top-ranked tackle in the Class of 2024.
Seaton signed with Colorado out of high school and started all 13 games for the Buffalos during his freshman season. He is the first true freshman to start at offensive tackle to start the season opener at Colorado and the first in the Big 12 since Texas’ Kelvin Banks (current Saints offensive tackle) in 2022.
Seaton received freshman All-American honors.
He started the first nine games of the 2025 season before missing the final three games because of an injury and allowed just one sack, zero quarterback hits and five pressures. Seaton was rated as the tenth best offensive tackle among power five schools.
Seaton has 22 collegiate starts and will be a preseason All-SEC selection.
“Talented big man athlete,” Mike Detillier of WWL Radio said. “Moves his feet with ease. Does a first-rate job getting his arms on a defensive end, and steering him to the outside. First rate body balance skills. Seaton has bettered his skillset to stay low and getting into the torso of a defensive lineman as a run blocker.”
Seaton’s price tag is high. He was reportedly seeking between four and five million dollars in an NIL deal.
Miami, Oregon, and Mississippi State were the others pursuing him.
ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona reported Seaton wanted to go to LSU, but his uncle, who also serves as his agent, was pushing him to Colorado.
After Seaton left his LSU visit, he went to Atlanta where he trains and met with Oregon coach Dan Lanning.
But Kiffin was persistent and followed Seaton to Atlanta to give one more sales pitch and then he had to wait a few days.
Kiffin said earlier this week that LSU was building the best portal class in the history of college football.
When he made those comments, he was waiting on two more additions and they both came this week, Umanmeilen and Seaton.
