In Louisiana, a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID is required for boarding domestic flights starting May 7, 2025. To obtain a REAL ID, Louisiana residents must visit an Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) field office or a Public Tag Agent location and provide required documentation. A REAL ID will feature a gold star in a circle on the top right corner.
Requirements for a Louisiana REAL ID:

- Proof of Identity: A birth certificate or passport.
- Proof of Legal Status: Documentation showing your legal status.
- Proof of Address: Two pieces of mail with your current address.
Obtaining a REAL ID in Louisiana:
- Visit an OMV office or Public Tag Agent location. You cannot obtain a REAL ID online in Louisiana.
- Provide required documentation. The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles will not accept photocopies of any documents.
- Pay the applicable fee. REAL ID driver’s licenses cost $32.25, or $18.75 for drivers 70 years of age and older. State identification cards cost $18
