LSU scores a major commitment in quarterback Peyton “Pop” Houston. He’s currently a junior from Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, and ESPN has him as the top pocket passer in the country. Lee Brecheen with Louisiana Football Magazine says Houston reminds him a lot of former USC Heisman Trophy winner and current Chicago Bears starter Caleb Williams.

“The game has changed a lot in these last 10 years. It’s about getting the ball out, having an advanced arm. And he can move around that pocket and he’s so hard to tackle,” Brecheen said.

Brecheen says as good as Houston currently is, he’s only going to get better between now and the time he joins the Tigers.

“He can sling it with the best of them in the United States. And I think he’s underrated still. Even though people talk about him, I still think this kid is one of the best arms I’ve seen come out of Louisiana,” Brecheen said.

Brecheen says with LSU scoring a commitment from Houston, he’s going to help LSU recruit some of the best talent in northwest Louisiana.

“Pop Houston’s going to be a big ally for North Louisiana (A) and Louisiana, second, to recruit the kids that are on the fence that need to stay in state,” Brecheen noted.
