LSU Coach Brian Kelly was not expected to speak with the media on Friday, but because of an explosive rumor on Wednesday about the health starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Kelly felt the need to calm everyone down.
Kelly says Nussmeier is dealing with patella tendinitis and it stems from a surgery he had in 2023. He aggravated the patella tendon at the end of Wednesday’s practice and they just need for it to calm down. BK joked that amputation is not needed.
The coach says on a scale of 1-10, it’s about 1.5.
Kelly says Nussmeier threw the football at practice on Friday and should return to a practice situation on Saturday.
The Tigers have their first major scrimmage of preseason camp on Saturday.
