A Kenner business owner is accused of recording people inside the bathroom of his business. According to his LinkedIn profile, 57-year-old Henry Rios owns a sign and banner shop called ETC NOLA. Kenner Deputy Police Chief Mark McCormick says a woman used the bathroom at his business earlier this month and discovered a camera mounted underneath the sink.
“She inspected that camera, and she removed the SD card and viewed what was on that device; and it was covertly recording people using the bathroom,” McCormick explained.
McCormick says detectives executed a search warrant at Rios’ business and home last week and recovered three additional concealed surveillance cameras, and a search of those cameras uncovered some startling findings.
“Initially right now, going from September 5th through the 17th, we have located over 500 videos or images,” McCormick noted.
And McCormick says that’s likely just the tip of the iceberg, as detectives have also recovered 13 thumb drives, five memory cards and a hidden camera disguised as an LED alarm clock. Right now, Rios is charged with three counts of video voyeurism, which is a felony under Louisiana law, but he says many more charges are likely to follow. So far, detectives have identified three victims, but there could be many more.
McCormick is urging businesses which have done work with Rios to thoroughly inspect their workplaces.
“My concern is that this isn’t an isolated incident, but maybe that he put cameras in other businesses in our community,” McCormick said.
