The Department of Children and Families has a new website. DCFS Secretary Rebecca Harris says the department decided to redesign the website after developers had discovered that it was difficult to find anything on the site as they were making basic improvements to it.
“We had heard that before from our members that they really couldn’t find the information that they needed, and we found that out firsthand,” Harris said.
Harris says DCFS was able to simplify the website in part because there are less things that users have to navigate to.
“We had some big programs that moved from DCFS to Louisiana Department of Health, and it makes our website much easier to navigate,” Harris explained.
As such, users are able to quickly locate information on child welfare services, family support programs, foster care, adoption and other key services. Harris says just like nearly every other reputable website these days, the new DCFS website is also mobile-friendly.
“For a significant percentage of individuals in Louisiana, the main way they access the internet is with their cell phone. So it’s very important that everything that we need to have available to them is easily accessible on your cell phone,” Harris noted.
