LSU Alexandria sets another enrollment record, with spring enrollment up 12% year-over-year, marking the 12th straight semester of record growth. Abbey Bain with LSUA says one of the biggest reasons for the continued growth is smaller class sizes.

“Students like the personalized attention they get here. We really get to know our students. We help them and challenge them and support them,” Bain said.

Bain says another reason students choose LSUA is cost.

“We are the most affordable for your degree in the state, which really provides access to a lot of students and their families that may not have been possible before,” Bain noted.

Bain says LSUA is also broadening its appeal beyond its traditional base.

“Most of our students come from Avoyelles and Rapides Parish, certainly our central Louisiana region. But we have students from every single parish in the state,” Bain said.

Bain says while much of the growth is in continuing education, there was also a 12% increase in on-campus enrollment, indicating that more incoming freshmen want to be a part of the campus’ vibrant experience.
