The College Football National Championship game is returning to Louisiana as it will be held in New Orleans in the Caesars Superdome on January 24, 2028. Executive director of the College Football Playoff, Rich Clark, says they are thrilled to bring the national championship game to New Orleans in 2028, and they know the fans will enjoy the experience.
“Great accessibility. People can walk everywhere. People want to come here. The best thing about it is the food. But there’s just so many things that make this the perfect destination for a big event, and you know how to run big events,” Clark said.
Not only will New Orleans host the CFP National Championship game in 2028, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will once again serve as a CFP Quarterfinal on New Year’s Night. Chief executive officer of the AllState Sugar Bowl, Jeff Hundley, says 2020 was the last time New Orleans hosted both the Sugar Bowl and a college football national championship game. Hundley says this will be a huge economic impact for the city.

“How about a half billion dollars? That’s what the economic impact was when we hosted the Sugar Bowl and the National Championship in the same year,” Hundley said.
Governor Jeff Landry says the big football games will bring thousands to the city, which serves as the front door to the rest of Louisiana.
“New Orleans creates that front door that people come to that says, ‘Hey, what is Louisiana all about? They get to walk through this city.’ And it makes them think, ‘Well, the state of Louisiana s an unbelievable place,’” Landry remarked.
