The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $4 again and there is no sign they are coming down anytime soon. AAA spokesperson Don Redman says the price at the pump is not doing anyone any favors.
“If I’m trying to budget what to expect at the gas pump, yeah, I’m thinking these prices are going to stay above $4 a gallon,” Redman said.
Redman says he doesn’t see gas prices coming back down until the U.S. war in Iran ends. The statewide average record high for a gallon of gasoline is $4.55, set in June of 2022. Redman doesn’t think it will get that bad.
“I don’t think those prices are going to reach that high, but it’s still a very fluid situation in Iran,” Redman noted.
Redman says diesel prices are at record highs, and the statewide average has shot above $6 a gallon. Redman says the supply of diesel is down because of the war between Russia and Ukraine. He says Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russian refineries has limited a major supplier of diesel.
“The demand and the supply on the diesel is really pushing that price up, on top of these high prices of crude oil,” Redman explained.
