A six-year-old girl is recovering after being shot in Lafayette over the weekend. Lafayette Police Detective Ken Handy says fortunately, the girl will survive.
“The victim was reported in critical condition. Since then, the victim’s condition has stabilized,” Handy said.
Detective Handy says one suspect was initially arrested.
“That suspect has been identified as Daylon Andrus. He has been booked in LPCC for one count of attempted second-degree murder,” Handy said.
This morning, a second suspect, Ja Andrea Kentrell Willis, was arrested in Beaumont, Texas; he’s awaiting extradition back to Lafayette. Handy says the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
“As far as the motives and intricate details on why the shooting occurred, all parties would have to be located and interviewed in order for us to get a clearer picture of what occurred,” Handy said.
